Ludwig van Beethoven

The Beethoven Moshixel mosaic shows the portrait of the German composer Ludvig van Beethoven (1770 - 1827). Its basic outline is based on the famous portrait by Joseph Karl Stieler painted in 1820, which depicts the composer in a brooding yet resolved pose as a force of nature unbroken by the strokes of fate (his deafness etc). The Moshixel mosaic uses a warm color scheme for Beethoven's facial features, illuminated against a background largely composed of yellow, green, blue, and red arranged in a spiral pattern. The mosaic employs heavy randomization across Beethoven's face in an attempt to highlight the great composers tragic circumstances in this late stage of his life.

The Beethoven Moshixel mosaic consists of 900 Rubik's cubes arranged in a 30x30 grid. It is 33x33 inches in size and framed.
